Shabbos Opportunity from Rabbi Spira

Dear Mispallelim, After such an uplifting Simchas Torah, I was interested in ideas to keep the momentum going. I would like to share with you a new proposal of how we can “spread our wealth,” while we gain ourselves as well. Some of you may be aware of a project that was undertaken a few years ago by BMZE in conjunction with Torah U’Mesorah. A few couples from the Shul traveled to Portland, Oregon to participate in a “Sister Cities” project. After an uplifting Shabbos, in which the residents of Portland enjoyed our knowledge and zeal for Torah, and in which we were awed by their commitment to Yiddishkeit, we returned empowered by our responsibility toward them, and intending to foster relations and chavrusos. Distance though, impeded our ability to maintain these relationships over the long term, or to extend the program to additional members of our Shul. I have therefore located a Torah Links in East Brunswick, which feels that their organization would greatly benefit from such a partnership. Torah Links is a Kiruv organization that has their own minyan with many of their own baalei teshuva, as well as many secular people who are affiliated with Torah Links. The plan is to begin with a Shabbos in their community, meet the members of the kehilla, and to hopefully create positive feelings and relationships with them. The first Shabbos is set for Parshas Vayeira, October 18-19 . There is only space for 5 couples to attend. Please respond to mspira@gmail.com or text me at 973-930-2977 <9739302977> if you and your wife would be interested in attending. I believe that this opportunity will reap dividends that we can all gain from. I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible. Sincerely, Rabbi Spira
