IMPORTANT UPDATE – Yomim Noraim

View this email in your browser (mailchi.mp/3c3ae249afc5/shul-building-update-12727059?e=fb4aef344c) Dear Mispallelim,
Apologies for the length of this email, but this is important. Please take a minute to read carefully. (If you don’t have the time to read the entire email, we underlined the important stuff)
Here’s the update: As the Rov mentioned in his previous email, we are going through a difficult year. Every effort was made to try and accommodate as many people as possible and enable us to daven together for the Yomim Noraim in one location. Unfortunately, despite these efforts, there are planning, practical, and logistical issues that now make moving the Shul to the Brookhaven mall, no longer possible. We will not be Davening at the Brookhaven mall.
So what will we be doing? The Shul will be having two Minyanim, in two different locations for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. One Minyan will adhere to strict mask wearing and distancing policies, and the other will have a optional-mask policy. (more on that later)
Where will the Minyanim take place? For Rosh Hashanah, the Minyan with the strict mask policy will take place in our regular Shul building. The optional-mask Minyan will take place in K’hal Tiferes Boruch (Rabbi Weinberger’s Shul) which is located directly across from the YKP Boys Building (232 Terhune Ave). The second location Yom Kippur will be finalized at a later date.
For the sake of brevity, we will refer to the Minyan with the strict mask-only policy as the Main Ave Minyan and the Minyan with the optional-mask policy as the Terhune Ave Minyan.
More information about the two Minyanim: More information and a full schedule will be sent out closer to Rosh Hashana, but here are the highlights: * The Main Ave Minyan will start roughly 15 minutes earlier than the Terhune Ave Minyan. Exact times will be sent out at a later date. * The Terhune Ave Minyan will have a short Kiddush before Tekios while there will be no Kiddush at the Main Ave Minyan. * The Rov will be Davening with both Minyanim; In the Main Ave Minyan for Shachris and in the Terhune Ave Minyan for Mussaf. * R’ Mordechai Dresdner will, IYH, be the Baal Tefilah for Mussaf at the Terhune Ave Minyan and R’ Ahron Sosnay will, IYH, be the Baal Tefilah for Mussaf at the Main Ave Minyan. * R’ Yehoshua White will be the Baal Tokeia at the Terhune Ave Minyan and R’ Harry Brown will be the Baal Tokeia at the Main Ave Minyan. * Both Minyanim will have an Ezras Nashim. * The space in the Main Ave Minyan is very limited. We will therefore need to give precedence to Shul Members.
Policies of The Terhune Ave Minyan: As mentioned above, the policy for the Terhune Ave Minyan will be that wearing a mask is optional. Anyone who would like to Daven without wearing a face mask should Daven in this Minyan. This includes anyone who would like to wear a face shield. It is worth noting that Rabbi Weinberger’s Shul is not a small space and we believe there will still be an opportunity for anyone who would like to daven in this minyan (with or without a mask) to still be able to maintain a personal distancing from a fellow Mispallel, if they wanted to.
Policies of The Main Ave Minyan: The policy of the Main Ave Minyan will be a strict adherence to mask wearing rules AND maintaining social distancing as per the configuration that will be set up in Shul. We will be attempting to set up the Shul in a way that maximizes distance between the Mispallelim. For the sake of full transparency, depending on circumstances, there will likely be instances where the distancing is less than 6 feet. For the sake of absolute clarity: This Minyan is for anyone who will be wearing a face mask properly (mouth and nose) and would like to Daven in a Minyan that is 100% compliant with the mask-wearing rules. Face shields are not allowed in this Minyan.
Making two Minyanim was not an easy choice, but ultimately it is an incredible opportunity to be able to accommodate everyone’s needs. Please keep in mind that not abiding by the rules – even in a seemingly small way – defeats the very purpose of making two Minyanim.
OK, so what do I have to do? As the circumstances have changed, we kindly (and apologetically) request that you fill out a new seating from HERE (ourshul.us20.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d0dc46d398c6593e0e02afe57&id=b7d2c3615d&e=fb4aef344c) or on the homepage of our website (www.ourshul.net (ourshul.us20.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d0dc46d398c6593e0e02afe57&id=ea26a6bebc&e=fb4aef344c) ).
