Fwd: (Covid-19 Task Force) Informational Update

View this email in your browser (mailchi.mp/d1442ce52050/shul-building-update-12622879?e=fb4aef344c) All shuls in our community have been asked to pass along the following message from the Covid-19 task force. ———————- Dear Community Members,
It is with great anticipation that we look forward to the physical reopening of our local Yeshivos for our children.
B’chasdei Hashem, our community has enjoyed a summer season nearly devoid of COVID-19 infection. Unfortunately, however, with the return home of overnight campers and an increase in simcha attendance, we are now experiencing a significant uptick in new cases in the Passaic-Clifton community. We are aware of approximately 20 new infections in our community during the last two weeks. In other communities, Hatzolah has reported an uptick in cases some of which have required hospitalization and ICU care. Our local Hatzolah has also begun to receive COVID-19 related calls.
Frum medical experts in several communities have warned of the potential spread of COVID-19 from chasunahs. They emphasize that attending chasunahs, and similar gatherings, poses significantly more risk than visiting a geographic “hot spot”.
While caution must be used when using terms such as “outbreak,” or “surge” the recent uptick in cases is concerning.
The primary reasons for concern are: 1. To protect the elderly and those with certain underlying health conditions. 2. To avoid closures of schools and shuls. 3. To avoid prolonged quarantine to those exposed to the virus and their families.
What can we do so that this “uptick” doesn’t turn into ch”v an actual “outbreak”? 1. Continue to wear a mask in public settings and when around people who do not live in your household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain. 2. Continue to practice social distancing whenever possible. 3. Continue to be very aware of your own health. If you or a family member is experiencing any symptoms of illness, please DO NOT go to a store, shul or school before consulting with your physician. 4. As discussed above, please use careful judgement before hosting or attending a simcha. 5. If you have direct physical contact or have been in close contact (e.g., within 6 or less feet for 15 or more minutes) with a person who has COVID-19 or developed COVID-19 during the two or three days since the time of your exposure to them, you are required to quarantine for 14 days after the contact. A negative COVID-19 test does NOT allow you to “get out of quarantine early”.
May Hashem continue to preserve our health so that we all remain healthy and our Mosdos can open on time and stay open.
Please note that this letter has been prepared by the below listed physicians, in consultation with Dr. Daniel Berman and Rabbi Dr. Aaron Glatt, the medical experts that our local schools are consulting with regarding their re-opening plans. We greatly appreciate the significant time these experts have provided to our community.
K’siva v’Chasima Tova,
Dr. Chaim Gejerman Dr. Rosy Joseph Dr. Jerry Lax Dr. Menachem Lipton Dr. Michael Rosen
