Shul General Membership Meeting and Elections and Amendment to Constitution

*Shul General Membership Meeting and Elections and Amendment to Constitution *

*1. Amendment to Shul Constitution*

The Board has voted to put a proposed amendment to the Shul’s Constitution to a vote of the membership. Curently, the Shul has a Board consisting of seven (7) members; President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and three (3) Trustees. *The proposed amendment would add two (2) additional Trustees to the Board (for a total of nine (9)).* It is important that the vote on this issue takes place prior to the General Membership meeting, which is scheduled for December 25 (details below). Therefore, we will be conducting an on-line vote regarding this issue, *beginning this Wednesday, December 14 through 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2011*. Voting on this issue will only take place on the Shul’s website: www.ourshul.net. Each family has one (1) vote and voters must be members in “good standing,” (defined below.)

If the amendment passes, at the General Membership meeting there will be a vote for six (6) officers. Hopefully, this will encourage more candidates.

Please note that in order to maintain staggered terms of office, one of the new Trustees will be for a full two (2) year term. The other new Trustee will be for a one (1) year term, and next year after elections, it will become a two (2) year term.

*2. Shul General Membership Meeting and Elections Sunday, December 25*

On Sunday, December 25, 2011 after the 8:30 a.m. Shachris, the Shul will hold its annual general membership meeting. The Board will update the membership on Shul operations and plans. We will also be holding elections for four (4) *(or six* *(6))* offices; President (currently Yaacov Brisman), Treasurer (currently Yehuda Kaufold) and two (2) *(or four (4)) *Trustees (currently Mayer Deutsch and Shua White). Per our bylaws, each officer holds a two (2) year term.

Yaacov Brisman is running for re-election. Yehuda Kaufold is not running for Treasurer and Mayer Deutsch and Shua White are running for their seats.

Election Committee: The Board has formed an “Election Committee” to conduct the elections, count the ballots and notify the membership of the results. The Election Committee consists of Naftoli Walfish ( naftoli@gmail.com, Ari Weissman (weissman@email.com) and Simcha Wolin ( swolin@gmail.com). Members of the Election Committee are not eligible to run for office.

Eligible Candidates: Any male member of the Shul, *who has been a member of the Shul for at least one (1) year*, shall be eligible to be elected. All candidates must be in “*good standing*.” “Good standing” is defined as a member who is current in their membership dues, including those current in their monthly payment plan. Members who are paying off other obligations, besides for membership, (kibbudim/kiddushim, etc.) may run for election. Please bear in mind that the Board of Trustees meets on a monthly basis.

Election: The election will be conducted by secret ballot. Only members in “good standing” (i.e. up-to-date on membership fees) are eligible to vote. Members who are paying off other obligations, (kibbudim/kiddushim, etc.) may also vote. Additionally, anyone who has reached an alternate financial arrangement with the Board may vote. There is no nomination process. If you would like to run for office and fit the above criteria, please inform any member of the Election Committee which office you are running for and your name will appear on the ballot. All candidates must inform the Election Committee of their intention to run, and the office for which they are running, no later than Thursday, December 22, 2010. We plan on sending out an e-mail on Friday, December 23, 2010 with the list of candidates.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, please contact a member of the Election Committee for an absentee ballot.

Please direct all questions to any member of the Election Committee.
